Deposed Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's champion Ronda Rousey got another bit of bad news after the UFC reportedly suspended her for the next six months until she is cleared from possible head injuries.

Rousey took a beating at the hands of challenger Holly Holm last weekend, suffering the first defeat of her UFC career and obviously beaten bad. The former UFC women's champ got a nasty kick to the head in the second round and the suspension is an obvious preventive measure until she is given a full clean bill of health.

The news would ordinarily sound like bad news, but given the fact that Rousey did originally plan to take some time off after UFC 193, the suspension would hardly matter.

Rousey is expected to be back for a rematch with Holm, something that could take place in July for UFC 200. UFC President Dana White made it clear that a rematch is a priority as Rousey tries to regain her title over new champion Holly Holm.

At the moment, Rousey is reportedly depressed, with the setback and bashers from all around not helping. Holm and even retired boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. have come to her defense despite the fact that Rousey had shown hostility against the two in the months prior to UFC 193.

For the time that she is away, Rousey is believed to be focusing on her movie career. She is expected to appear in at least two films, "Roadhouse" and "Mile 22," and these are expected to keep her busy.

The time off will also allow her to regroup and collect her thoughts after the surprise loss, a new challenge that Rousey should openly embrace and hopefully overcome.

The state athletic commission usually manages these suspensions privately, but since the UFC regulated itself in Australia, the suspension was made public.
