Whenever a competitor believes he gave it his all and yet came up short, it is understandable why at some point the he could ponder on the thought of giving it all up and retiring.

Apparently, this is the situation Carlos Condit is in right now, falling short against champion Robbie Lawler despite giving it his best effort, highlighted by almost doubling the strikes of his opponent and yet failing to make an impression on the judges.

Of course, leaving the results at the hands of the ones calling the fight is not fully guaranteed to swing in his favor so he could be partly to be blamed. And apparently, Condit is aware of such.

For his part, Lawler was open to a possible rematch with Condit just for the latter to reconsider his stance on calling it a career. But making that happen could come with some complications.

As it turns out, Tyron Woodley is lined up next for Lawler. Such was already announced even before their tiff kicked off for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) 195.

Understandably, Condit is at an all-time low right now. It calls to mind a similar instance in boxing when Brandon Rios almost called it a career after falling to Timothy Bradley Jr. back in November.

Rios would eventually wise up and take back those retirement plans and hopefully Condit can do the same.

It may take some time, though, before Condit gets back to his senses.

The UFC 195 clash saw Condit make 176 strikes compared to just 92 on the part of Lawler, although that may not entirely tell the story of how the fight went.

Three judges called it in favor of Lawler, while the remaining two saw it as a draw.

Judging has once again been hit, so it remains to be seen if the UFC would do something about the way matches are called.
