'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' delay worth it

When big-name game company Naughty Dog announced that one of the most anticipated titles this year, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," will instead be launched in spring next year, hardcore fans and observers alike stated that the developer should make sure that the title lives up to its hype and is worth the long wait.

If the recent reports on how the next "Uncharted" game will look like are true, then the title is indeed worth the wait.

In an interview with U.K.-based Games TM, lead writer for the series Josh Scherr said that the game was improved dramatically that now, in-game details would clearly be seen by players. Specifically, facial animations will be more life-like, much like the detailed graphics on another huge Naughty Dog title, "The Last of Us."

Scherr said, "We've completely revamped our facial animation systems. Think about that, how detailed Joel and Elli's pained facial expressions were, how well the game captured the respective actors ... Now, the faces have anywhere between 300 and 500 bones."

Aside from the much improved facial animations, the title will make the best out of the PlayStation 4's capabilities. It is rumored that "Uncharted 4" will run at a smooth and eye-catching 60 fps.

In addition, Sony seems to be pulling all stops in terms of making the franchise as hyped as possible. There is a post on IMDB about a yet-unnamed "Uncharted" movie, which will reportedly note the journey of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter and direct descendant of Sir Francis Drake, as he searches for the fabled golden city of El Dorado. Meanwhile, fans are also getting excited about a rumored "Uncharted" trilogy remastered bundle that will be released sometime this year. Both the movie and the remastered bundle are expected to pave the way for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
