It is time for the big battle in the upcoming episode of "Under the Dome."Facebook/CBS

Battle lines have been drawn in the upcoming episode of CBS's science fiction drama series "Under the Dome," Cartermatt reports.

In "Breaking Point," viewers will see two opposing sides readying up for the big encounter to take over the town. On one side are Christine (Marg Helgenberger) and her brainwashed townspeople, while on the other are Big Jim (Dean Norris), Julia (Rachelle Lefevre), Joe (Colin Ford), Norrie (Mackenzie Lintz), and Hunter (Max Ehrich).

The pitiful band comprising the opposition will try to take on Christine and stop her from accomplishing her new plan — a massive excavation project. The therapist is apparently ordering the residents to dig out tunnels in the caves underneath the town. Big Jim will also tap on Hunter's adept skills on technology to try and contact the outside world.

Last episode, the unlikely alliance of the councilman and his cronies was forged. Norrie explained to them the plan to stop Christine from destroying the town and its residents further. Meanwhile, Big Jim told Julia about Lyle Chumley's (Dwight Yoakam) prediction about a column of flame that would consume everything on its path.

Julia recognized it as the foretold sixth extinction event. Sure enough, a wall of fire appeared the next day and proceeded to destroy the world outside the dome. People gathered at the Dome's edge and cried for help while around them, the fire devoured everything it touched. Barbie (Mike Vogel) could not stand to watch the slaughter and asked Eva (Kylie Bunbury) to help them.

She told him that it was time for mankind to be erased. Eva convinced Barbie that the only people she could save were those inside the Dome. They then turned their backs on the wretched crowd outside who were immediately consumed by the raging fire.

"Under the Dome" airs Thursday at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
