There has not been much news about "Underworld Ascendant" in the past year, but fans will be glad to know that there are gameplay updates for the upcoming title. The spiritual successor of the popular role-playing game (RPG) "Ultima Underworld" has finally come out of its development shells to share with its fans a lot of progress they have made since the last time the game was publicly seen.

The gameplay updates for "Underworld Ascendant" has been shared by the people behind OtherSide Entertainment: Warren Spector, Paul Neurath, and Tim Stellmach. The three talked about the game during the recently concluded PAX South last weekend. Fans who are interested to see it themselves can watch a short video of them on YouTube.

"A lot of modern adventure games have gone in the direction of really trying to script tighter and tighter moments, that everything is very carefully crafted," said Stellmach when comparing to other modern games. "You have your own ideas about the kind of experience you want to have, and our goal is to allow you to do that -- to put together a system where all of you, with all of your different answers to the questions, are all right."

While there is not much clear footage as to what Stellmach means, people can easily assume that the game will be very diverse. Given that players have their own interests in the game, it definitely will make players try different things out and see how the game goes then.

The video, however, did display some footage, models, and even some combat scenes from the game. Those who wish to see how the game is progressing or what it has, for now, can do so on their official website. Note that it still is in pre-alpha, but at least fans know that the game is coming together just fine.

That said, "Underworld Ascendant" is actually expected to be released within the second half of 2018. With its nearing release, people can expect more news about the game in the months to come.
