Jamaica's Usain Bolt defended his title winning the 100m race at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics held at the Bird's Nest stadium in Beijing, China. 

It is the same stadium where Bolt created a name for himself winning two Olympic gold medals and set two records in the 2008 Olympics. 

Bolt again had that magic last Sunday as he edged the controversial Justin Gatlin from the United States. 

Gatlin has been on a roll this season providing great performances and was on a 28-race winning streak at 100m races.

But the Jamaican ended Gatlin's streak finishing the race with the time of 9.79 seconds, only one hundredth of a second ahead of his American foe.

The final time of Bolt in the title-winning race is two tenths of a second more than his world record. 

"This means a lot because I've been struggling all season, it's taken me a while to work things out. It's been up and down but it's OK now," Bolt told BBC Sports following the win. 

Eight-time world champion Michael Johnson said, according to BBC Sports, that Bolt was challenged the most in his career during the event and had the task of saving the sport on his shoulders which gave him pressure. 

"I have to give him so much credit for that performance," Johnson added. 

Gatlin, who has faced issues and was even suspended because of illegal substances before, was favored to win the race and take the title from the "Lightning Bolt."

The American had a time of 9.77 in the semi-finals but was unable to have a repeat performance during the championship race. 

Together with Bolt and Gatlin on the podium, United States' Trayvon Bromell and Canada's Andre De Grasse, who are both 20 years old, were tied for a bronze medal-finish.
