The television landscape has changed drastically over the years. Cartoons that used to be acceptable for children to watch have revised their themes and content and are now talking about homosexuality, abortion, and other controversial issues.

But all hope is not lost. There is at least one new TV cartoon that is definitely safe for children to watch. This is DreamWorks' Emmy-nominated faith-based show "Veggie Tales in the House," which premiered its second season on Sept. 11. Netflix is airing 11 new episodes of the show to provide wholesome entertainment for children.

The series stars Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber, together with their friends Tina Celerina, Callie Flower, Gary Garlic, Beau Rockely and Roonie the Olive Hound.

According to the Gospel Herald, the Veggies will be adopting a pet puppy this season, as well as invent a secret flavour of ice cream and sing silly new songs.

What creators Mike Nawrocki and Phil Vischer hope to achieve with the show is to make kids laugh while at the same time learn about important life lessons and biblical principles such as forgiveness, compassion, and generosity.

"The heart is still about thankfulness and loving your neighbor," said Nawrocki, who also voices Larry the Cucumber. "The faith component sets us apart from a lot of other family entertainment. Story is such a powerful way to reach kids, and the values we support are integrated in the story... that's what Jesus did all the time."

What also sets the series apart from other cartoons is that the show's characters are seen praying to God and quoting Bible verses. "In 'Veggie Tales In The House,' our characters know that there's a God who made them and loves them and they can talk about Him—and that's normal," said Vischer.

"We encourage parents to take these episodes as conversation starters, as a great opportunity to open up these questions and create teachable moments for your kids," he added.
