At last, Verizon subscribers who own the HTC One (M8) can now get a taste of Android Lollipop. After being unable to keep its 90-day rollout promise, HTC finally makes its 2014 flagship under Verizon's network the latest smartphone to don Google's latest operating system.

Verizon's rollout of Android Lollipop places it third among the carriers to launch the update. Sprint and T-Mobile rolled the update last month. Meanwhile, AT&T users with the HTC One (M8) are left to wait for the Lollipop makeover. Currently, they still have Android KitKat 4.4.4.

The update was sent out over the air so users should have received a prompt for the Lollipop installation by now. Those who have yet to receive the notification can check the settings of the phone (by going to Settings > About Phone > System Updates > Check for Updates) and manually download the update from there.

Android Lollipop has some exciting new modifications for the HTC One (M8). It introduces the new Material Design, which brings in vibrant animations and dynamic 3D views. The style was amalgamated with the Sense 6.0 UI. There is also 64-bit ABI support and a noticeably enhanced runtime. Users can also expect a card-based notification and an app switching system. These, along with lock-screen and homescreen notifications, which displays notifications in one top-down swipe and the Quick Settings on the second swipe.

It does not end there. There are also features tailored for the HTC One (M8) alone. Users will enjoy the enhanced 3-way calling feature, its smooth sync in Google Settings and Sidetone in Call Settings. Android Lollipop also adds a search function for users to easily access and edit various settings on the handset.

Recent Apps was also included with a Card View and a Grid View. This feature is unique to the HTC One (M8) as other phones with Android Lollipop do not have it. Performance enhancements, bug fixes as well as improved battery life come with the new operating system as well.
