"We Happy Few" has been in early access on Steam since July of 2016. The game has been delayed multiple times, and has once again been pushed back to sometime during the summer season of 2018.

Despite the delay, the game's early access version is still available for purchase on Steam. Those who want to learn more about the game, can also head to their Steam page to read about the game's features, computer requirements, and general update regarding the development process.

The game's synopsis reads: "From the independent studio that brought you Contrast, We Happy Few is an action/adventure game set in a drug-fuelled, retrofuturistic city in an alternative 1960s England. Hide, fight and conform your way out of this delusional, Joy-obsessed world"

In "We Happy Few" players are put into the shoes of three different protagonist. The protagonists lives in a world where happiness is mandatory. People take drugs to stay happy, and if they refuse, they are chased down by the police and killed. The protagonists – tired of this way of living – decides to stop taking their medication. The game is composed of the player, trying to act as normal and happy as possible as they try to find a way out of their crazy world. Stealth and survival play an important role in "We Happy Few." Aside from trying to appear happy, players need to consume food to stay alive.

Players can take different approaches to "We Happy Few" and can choose between conforming, stealth, or violence. There are consequences for each different action, but they help tailor the game to different play styles. Scavenging and crafting also play a big part in-game.

Game mechanics aside, not many fans have been too happy about the delay. According to PC Gamer, the developers of the game have decided to refund those who purchased the early access version of the game. Aside from that, they would remove the game from the Steam sale page on Feb. 1.
