Renowned video game publisher Bethesda has confirmed that Panic Button will be working to create the Switch port of their recently dystopian shooter, "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus."

On Jan. 23, the official Bethesda Twitter account announced that they have handed over the reins of development for the portable version of "Wolfenstein II" to Panic Button, the same studio that worked with them before on developing "DOOM" on the same platform.

"We're happy to confirm our continued development partnership with @PanicButtonGame, who will be bringing Wolfenstein II to #NintendoSwitch," the tweet reads, adding, "We're excited to share more information on #Wolf2 soon!" which could imply either a proper release date for the port or more news regarding the game's downloadable content.

Panic Button Games were quick to respond with their own tweet on the matter, exclaiming their pleasure to work with Bethesda and MachineGames on the port.

As previously stated, Panic Button had worked with Bethesda before in developing the Switch port of 2016's "DOOM." This port came out in November 2017 and received a generally positive reception, garnering an average score of 79 percent on Metacritic. While lower than its PC and console siblings, it is still a very respectable score, especially considering how demanding the original "DOOM" was on PC.

Panic Button has also worked with other developers when creating ports for the Nintendo Switch. They are the same team that worked with Psyonix to develop "Rocket League" for the hybrid platform. Unlike "DOOM," "Rocket League" managed to get an average score of 85 percent which puts it nearly on par with the console and PC counterparts.

It seems "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus" is in good hands as far as development history is concerned. However, it should be noted that "DOOM" first came out in 2016 and "Rocket League" launched in 2015, meaning both were fairly old by the time the port was developed. With "Wolfenstein II" having just come out a few months ago, it will be interesting to see just how well they make the game run as well as what compromises they will have to make to do so.
