Boyd Holbrook has been tapped by Fox to become the big baddie in "Wolverine 3."

Deadline exclusively reported that the actor, who portrays the role of DEA agent Steve Murphy in Netflix's critically acclaimed series "Narcos," will appear in the film as the persistent and manipulative head of security working for a global corporation who will go after Logan/Wolverine.

While the role is reportedly an original character that is not based on any existing Marvel Comics series, the description of the character is somewhat similar to Captain Mooney, a new villain from "All-New Wolverine." He is a security officer working for Alchemax who is tasked to go after the clones of X-23.

Aside from the Netflix series, Holbrook also appeared in film projects such as "Gone Girl" and "Run All Night" and will be part of upcoming movies "Jane Got a Gun" and "Morgan."

Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Logan/Wolverine in the third standalone Wolverine film from the "X-Men" franchise. This will reportedly be his last time to portray the character since he appeared in "X-Men" in 2000. Patrick Stewart will also reprise his role as Professor X in the movie. Liev Schreiber also hinted that he will reprise his version of Sabretooth in the upcoming film as well.

The third "Wolverine" film was first announced in March 2014. It will reportedly begin production sometime in May. The film will be directed by James Mangold, the same director of the 2013 film "The Wolverine," based on the script written by David James Kelly.

Rumors suggest that the film will be loosely based on the classic "Old Man Logan" arc from the comic books. It is also rumored to tackle a bloodier, R-rated theme after the success of "Deadpool" in the box office.

"Wolverine 3" is slated for release on March 3, 2017.
