With post-launch DLC for "WWE 2K16" running out, fans are beginning to wait for its successor, "WWE 2K17." In fact, there is already news going around on which wrestlers will appear in the upcoming iteration of the hit wrestling simulation.

When asked on Twitter by a fan if he is in negotiations with WWE to appear in the video game, two-time world champion Goldberg replied, "I think I've heard [that rumor]."

According to Cage Side Seats, this tweet is more than just a "WWE 2K17" tease but also a hint that he may actually be back in the WWE ring after being kicked out of it back in Wrestlemania 20, where he defeated Brock Lesnar.

Goldberg is one of the playable fighters in the "WWE 2K16" roster. It would not be a tall order having him back in the new installment but the ultimate bonus for wrestling fans is that they might also end up watching him tussle again for real inside the WWE ring after 12 years.

Whether or not Goldberg will spear his way to "WWE 2K17" remains a mystery but it certainly won't be a stretch. For now, fans can play as the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion in the current iteration of the game.

At the moment, 2K Sports is yet to confirm the development of the "WWE 2K16" follow-up but its recent agreement with WWE, where it was endowed a multi-year's worth of license over WWE games, hints that there will be one on the way.

Meanwhile, the "Future Stars Pack" for "WWE 2K16" is now safe to download. When it was first released, the DLC came with a bug that corrupted the Universe mode of the game.

Those whose save data was wiped upon installing the pack will not be able to restore it but those who are yet to install the DLC won't have anything to worry about.
