World Wrestling Entertainment's (WWE) "Fastlane" is the final pay-per-view event before WrestleMania 34, and the matches will determine who among the WWE stars will be headed to the promotion's biggest event of the year as champions of the Smackdown brand.

The main highlight of the pay-per-view event has seemingly been finalized during this week's episode of "Smackdown Live," but the other matches remain to be unknown. Rumors about possible matches have been circulating around the internet, mostly based on the current events between rival superstars and factions.

AJ Styles will face Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens in a triple-threat match for the WWE World Heavyweight championship. This is the only confirmed match by far and this is expected to put an end to the drama surrounding the three superstars and Smackdown Live heads Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan. If Styles wins the match, he can finally start building up his rivalry with Japanese superstar Shinsuke Nakamura, whose Royal Rumble win makes him the rightful challenger for Styles' belt at WrestleMania.

This would also set up a potential feud between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The two have been teaming up and have been trying to dethrone Styles, but had a falling out after failing to defeat the champion in a two-on-one handicap match in the Royal Rumble back in January.

According to Sportskeeda, Dolph Ziggler may also return to face Bobby Roode for the United States championship. Last year, Ziggler vacated the title and walked out in a fit of rage, leaving Daniel Bryan no choice but to hold a tournament for the vacant title, in which Roode ultimately won. Ziggler was never defeated for the title, so having him challenge Roode for the belt makes the most sense.

Should Roode drop the title to Ziggler at Fastlane, it would only set up more opportunities for him, since continuing to pursue the U.S. championship will finally give him a proper feud, and if Roode chooses not to, perhaps he can somehow squeeze himself into the heavyweight championship picture, as he is obviously meant for bigger things in the WWE.

Ruby Riott is also rumored to challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women's championship, but with talks of Flair facing Ronda Rousey at Wrestlemania going around, it is doubtful that Riott will come out victorious if the match pushes through.
