The 2016 WWE Royal Rumble finally concluded but at the end of the night, the surprises came from within the 30-man battle royal and the undercards that took place.

Triple H winning it was a yawn, considering he was already pitted to win it. There are the sports books to thank for that one.

Among the highlights of the rumble included the official debut of A.J. Styles who made a good account for himself. The former New Japan Pro Wrestling star stood toe-to-toe with most stars before he was unceremoniously eliminated by Kevin Owens.

Could that be a storyline in the works? It shall be seen how that develops.

Also noticeable is the rumored feud featuring Brock Lesnar and the Wyatt Family. While fans have seen this take place in previous shows, it is obvious that this will go on until perhaps Wrestlemania 32.

A head-on collision featuring Lesnar and Bray Wyatt may not be on equal footing, so expect the minions (Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman) to get into the act. Of course, it would be different if it's Strowman going up against the Beast Incarnate, but one just never know.

Chris Jericho was around and it seems Y2J will be appearing regularly for now. He was around before the Royal Rumble and was again in action at WWE Raw against Styles. Will he be a regular on WWE shows?

As for the undercards, the U.S. title changed hands once again, with Kalisto reclaiming the title he lost to Alberto Del Rio.

Owens and Dean Ambrose had perhaps one of the best matches of the evening, a grueling last man standing showdown which saw the Lunatic Fringe retaining his Intercontinental title. Could this be the end of it?

Charlotte retained his Divas title over Becky Lynch with help from her dad. But what happened after that was more interesting, with a new contender in Sasha Banks rising from the ranks and setting her eyes on Charlotte's title.

With that said, new storylines are brewing, with some forecasted ones taking shape. Will fans see new developments starting at WWE Fastlane this February before marching on to the big dance in Texas which is Wrestlemania 32?
