WWE rumors: Roman Reigns expected to be U.S. champ at WWE SummerSlam; Midcard downgrade a blessing in disguise?

It looks like a big change is coming to Roman Reigns.WWE.com

Roman Reigns is being punished from his wellness policy violation. Upon his return from his 30-day suspension, he was dropped to mid-card, but WWE is not expected to be too harsh on him and will allow The Big Dog to thrive in this division.

Reigns, who was the main-eventer and the big winner in Wrestlemania 32, quickly slumped following his failed drug test. He suffered one lost after another, losing precious opportunities for championship matches.

Losing his shot at the Universal title to newcomer Finn Balor, Reigns started a feud with Rusev for the United States championship, which fans seemed to like based on their reaction.

Reigns was poised to be WWE's new face and the company certainly did its best to make that happen with the three-time champion getting all the opportunities to get there.

WWE's decision to make him The Big Dog the top guy does not sit well with fans, who always shower Reigns with boos when he makes his entrance. This changed when he interrupted Rusev's hate speech towards America.

In what could be the rarest moments in Reigns' career, the arena erupted with cheers of his name instead of scoffs and boos. It was certainly a new sight to see.

According to Forbes, Reigns and Rusev's feuds should help boost both fighters' careers. The site also noted that his United States Championship pursuit is not a downgrade.

The site says that Rusev is the perfect nemesis for Reigns, especially because the fighters that Reigns have dealt with in the past are labelled as heels but made Reigns look more like the enemy.

Forbes says that Rusev is the ultimate heel and has no babyface DNA running through him. He's a full-scale heel and a feud with Reigns should help The Guy look more like the babyface WWE failingly project him to be in the past.

On that note, Reigns is expected to snag the U.S. Championship belt at WWE SummerSlam 2016 and fans are expected to cheer for his victory.
