WWE SummerSlam rumors: Seth Rollins likely to defend title against John Cena

With Brock Lesnar preoccupied with a returning Undertaker, Seth Rollins has gotten an easy way out of the Beast's den.

However, that does not mean that he is scott-free. Being a WWE champion, Rollins is expected to get new challengers and, as speculated after WWE Battleground, that confrontation with John Cena did mean something.

Not that Cena is desperate to get back the WWE title, which he has worn multiple times, but the thing is he could not bear the continuous bragging of Rollins who has kept hold of the title due to measly means. Such include getting outside help and resorting to lowly tactics to stay as champion.

While all of it is part of the WWE storyline, the fact remains that Rollins cannot truly be considered a worthy champion. Not even a role model.

Even though hatred for Rollins is seen as something good for the WWE, it has yet to show in the ratings. The only reason why the WWE is being followed is because of the other matches.

Like in the case of WWE SummerSlam, it will not be surprising if fans are more interested in the Lesnar vs. Undertaker card than what happens to the WWE belt. Or maybe even that rumored match involving Roman Reigns and Sting against the new Wyatt Family.

Rollins is not the type of wrestler who has come into his own. His finisher isn't even original since we all know that the Pedigree belongs to Triple H. So in all, he remains champion because he is hated and lives his heel character to the fullest.

But against Cena, a proven face of the WWE, it remains to be seen if the title will change. But seeing the plotted course of the WWE, it is likely that Rollins will retain the title. If that would be the case, expect this to be another celebrated feud between the two while leaving other more established stars like Lesnar and Reigns buying time on other storylines.

Well, hopefully the WWE doesn't overlook their ratings which, reports say, are not doing too good.
