One of the most praised aspects of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" was Evan Peters' portrayal of the mutant speedster Quicksilver. Peters will be reprising his role in the upcoming "X-Men: Apocalypse," and speaking to Details the actor was able to spill a few details regarding his character's story arc.

"The story is that my character is searching for his father and wants to find him. It starts there and then he jumps on the X-Men train and gets sucked up in this whole Apocalypse madness: He tries to stop him from destroying the world," the actor explains.

As reported by Collider, this not only gives Quicksilver some motivation to fight alongside the X-Men but also puts him right in the middle of the conflict since he is opposing Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) while trying to save his father who, at this point, has been recruited into Apocalypse' team.

[Spoiler Warning] Fans of the comic-books will recall that Quicksilver's father is in fact Magneto (Michael Fassbender). This detail was not explored much in "X-Men: Days of Future Past," although Quicksilver does tell Magneto that the latter's powers over metal reminded him of someone, saying that his mother "once knew a guy that could do that."

Their encounter in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is most likely the first official meeting of father and son and this dynamic is expected to grow even more complex in "X-Men: Apocalypse" since the two are fighting on opposing teams. It is possible that their relationship may eventually turn Magneto against Apocalypse.

In related news, the film is reportedly set to conduct reshoots early next year. The reshoots will supposedly give Hugh Jackman's Wolverine more screen time, although his involvement in the film, beyond that of an extended cameo, has yet to be confirmed by the studios or by Jackman.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" opens in theaters on May 26, 2016.
