Brie Larson's upcoming "Captain Marvel" film is already confirmed to feature two famous alien races: The Kree and the Skrulls. However, it looks like the latter will not only exist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but in X-Men's as well.

An exclusive report from Universo X-Men picked up by Screen Rant reveals that "X-Men: The Dark Phoenix" is introducing Marvel's shapeshifting aliens. Sources close to the production claims there is a scene at a United Nations building with the likes of Professor Xavier (James McAvoy), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), and Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) in attendance to discuss mutant rights when they are interrupted by an alien attack.

The actors, although spotted wearing motion-capture suits, were reportedly referred to as Skrulls.

The site is not known for breaking news such as this, so fans should take this rumor with a grain of salt. 20^th Century Fox has also not acknowledged any plans to add the Skrulls to its "X-Men" franchise as it would set up legal conflicts with Marvel Studios.

The studio behind the "Avengers" announced back in San Diego Comic-Con that they will feature the intergalactic group in their first female-led live-action film, "Captain Marvel." Marvel even has already a concept art of the species.

Still, Fox does also have the rights to use the Skrull race, owing to their association with the Fantastic Four. Per Movie Pilot, both studios share the ownership of properties like the Watchers, Quicksilver, and Scarlet Witch although some specific species exclusively belong to Fox. Thus, the said aliens may still appear in "X-Men" films if Fox decides to include them.

If the latest rumor turns out accurate, "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" marks the first appearance of the alien race in live-action. The sequel to "X-Men: Apocalypse" is set for release on Nov. 2, 2018, while "Captain Marvel" premieres on March 6, 2019.
