At least one Microsoft executive has indicated that next year's game lineup for the console could be really special.

While speaking at the Credit Suisse Technology Conference that took place last Dec. 1, Microsoft marketing executive Yusuf Mehdi said that fans can look forward to the console's "best lineup" of games next year, Gamespot reported.

Mehdi is not singling out next year's lineup as he also referred to this year's collection of games for the Xbox One as the best one as well. Mehdi then went on to name some of the games available via the Xbox One as evidence of his claims. Some of the games he named included "Gears of War," "Halo 5," "Minecraft," and "Tomb Raider."

Next year's list of games coming to Xbox One includes an eclectic mix of genres and titles that should appeal to a wide swath of the gaming population.

Gamespot also named some of the Xbox One titles expected to come out next year, including entries from established franchises such as "Crackdown 3," "Gears of War 4" and "Killer Instinct Season 3." There will also be some new franchises that will be aiming to make a name for themselves on the Xbox One such as "Quantum Break" and "Scalebound." These games are currently expected to be released next year, although delay could always set their time lines back.

The Xbox One will also be welcoming "Rocket League" into its ranks beginning February of next year, according to The Verge. No specific release date has been assigned to "Rocket League's" Xbox One debut, so fans will simply have to stay tuned to learn more about that.

"Rocket League" is currently available only on PlayStation 4 and personal computer (PC) so Xbox One owners have been missing out on all the fun thus far.

More news about next year's Xbox One lineup may be released before the end of 2015.
