The first-ever virtual reality game for the Xbox One is allegedly in the works. Ars Technica reports that the VR title will be released next year, but will be showcased at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) next month.

The site did not go into detail about what the new VR Game for Xbox One has to offer, but it did hint that a "well-known European developer" is behind the said project.

PC Mag guesses that Ubisoft or EA DICE may be the studio in question. The former could be working on a VR "Assassin's Creed" game.

The latter might be looking to build up its new "Mirror's Edge" series with such bold Xbox One launch. Ars Technica adds that this new VR game will also be released to the PS4 and PC.

At the moment, there's no telling what this game is, but it does hint of Microsoft's plans for its Xbox platform.

As fans would know, the Xbox One does not have VR support. This report adds to the credence of earlier reports that Microsoft will be introducing an upgraded version of the Xbox One at E3.

Interestingly, this said upgraded Xbox One console will be made compatible with Oculus Rift, which further hints that a new VR game and new Xbox hardware may be unveiled at E3.

As for the upgraded Xbox One console, reports claim that it will be four times more powerful than the current Xbox One and will also be much more powerful than Sony's purported new console PS4 Neo.

The device, expected to be unveiled next year, is said to boast 6 teraflops of power. With this amount, the console will be capable of supporting VR, which Oculus co-founder Palmer Luckey always wanted.

Apart from the new Xbox One console and the VR game, Microsoft is rumored to launch a so-called Xbox mini (Xbox One Slim), a trimmed version of its current-gen console during the E3.

The event is scheduled June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
