Just two days ago, in a report from Den of Geek, actress Lucy Lawless stated that she was interested in re-visiting "Xena: Warrior Princess," and now, it appears that she will get exactly what she hoped for. According to an update from The Hollywood Reporter, a reboot of "Xena: Warrior Princess" is indeed in the works. 

According to the report, NBC and NBC Universal International is moving forward in producing a new "Xena" series and are currently looking for writers to "modernize" the show. The report also confirms that Rob Tapert and director Sam Raimi will return for the reboot but there is no confirmation yet if they are executive producing as they did for the original series or if they are being brought on as creative consultants. 

Lawless already expressed her desire to go back and reprise her role if they move ahead with a sequel, and the report states that NBC is interested in bringing her back both in front and behind the cameras this time around. If they reboot the series, then she might play a different character that still pays tribute to her version of Xena. 

"Xena: The Warrior Princess" isn't the only Sam Raimi series getting rebooted for television as "The Evil Dead" is also getting a new show titled "Ash vs the Evil Dead" where Lawless is set to play a part, at least for season 1. The "Evil Dead" television series is also being produced by Raimi and Tapert, the latter being married to Lawless. 

Den of Geek's report reiterates that the reboot of "Xena: The Warrior Princess" is still in its early stages of development and there are no finished draft scripts, production schedules, or a release date at the time of writing. However, the reboot is coming out in a time where fantasy series are becoming a big hit, with "Game of Thrones" leading the pack.
