The release date of the highly-anticipated Japanese role-playing game title from Nintendo, "Xenoblade Chronicles 2" is just around the corner. The video game's developers, Monolith Soft, has been aggressive in releasing promotional teasers in every way, shape, and form. Their most recent reveal involves in-game characters known as "Blades," Mythra and Pyra, and how they are significant in the adventure of the game's main protagonist, Rex.

In a report by Dual Shockers, a crucial element of the story has already been revealed through screenshots and videos that have been released by the video game's developers — and that is the role of Mythra in the game. It was initially thought that Rex would be assisting Pyra in her journey in the story of "Xenoblade Chronicles 2," but it is now known that Pyra and Mythra are two parts of the "Aegis" or the "Heavenly Holy Grail" in the Japanese version.

More importantly, at some point in Rex's journey, he will be able to swap between the two female Blades at any time during battle instances, which is something that fans could possibly find very interesting for the sequel. In a video trailer for the game, it can be seen that Pyra gets worried about Rex being put in peril while he is in the heat of battle. This causes her hair to change, from deep red color to bright and shining blonde.

It has not yet been revealed as to what this transformation means as of now. However, it is safe to assume that in her blonde state, Pyra is channeling the power of the "Aegis." This makes for a very promising story in the chapter of Rex's adventures. According to Uinterview, players will have to take note of the many features that were not present in the previous instalment, such as new abilities that can have long-term effects on the player's battle experience.

These multiple varieties of abilities and skills, coupled with their combinations could potentially provide players with multiple options on how to approach the game.

"Xenoblade Chronicles 2" will be released on Dec. 1 as an exclusive title for the Nintendo Switch. Expansions will follow.
