Xiaomi is said to be launching two new flagship iterations soon, and one of them is a follow-up to the current-gen Mi 5 lineup.

Reports out of China mention that supposed renders of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5s have already made their way online, showing the new iteration's improved features over the current-gen premium model. Allegedly, one of the tweaks that Xiaomi will be including in the Mi 5s is a dual-cam setup, and this can be seen on the recent uploaded images that supposedly leaked about the new device. Aside from the dual-lens camera setup, the Xiaomi Mi 5s is also supposed to get an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, an all-glass form factor and curved display with 3D Touch-like feature. There is also talk that the Mi 5s, as a step-up version, will offer 6GB of RAM and higher onboard storage.

While some of the rumored specs have yet to be verified, the dual-cam feature for the Mi 5s is already expected by some fans, since it was previously reported that Xiaomi had finalized a deal with South Korea-based Samsung Electronics for dual-cam modules.

Meanwhile, since the lineup's base model, the Mi 5, is just recently launched earlier this year, it remains to be seen what will be the improvements on the Mi 5s. The base model Mi 5 launched with a 5.15-inch IPS LCD display with full HD resolution, Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4GB of RAM for the Pro edition, retaining a standard 3GB one for the basic model.

Should the Mi 5s launch together with another rumored iteration, the Mi Note 2, it is said that both new flagships may reveal the new Snapdragon 821 chipset. While SD 821 generally has the same architecture as the SD 820 chipset, the newer processor is higher-clocked, with improvements in speed and performance.
