Xiaomi is expected to be working on its latest batch of smartphones to launch this year, and one of these new handsets could be the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 5X. The rumors are rife that the Mi 6X will hit the shelves soon, as evidenced by two leaked renders of the smartphone, all of which have surfaced within a week.

According to the latest reports about the Xiaomi Mi 6X, new leaked images of the said smartphone were spotted this week. The earlier leak shows the rear side of the handset, and the picture also suggests that the Mi 6X will introduce a new color variant. Furthermore, the back of the device has a new camera setup which is similar to the dual camera module of the iPhone X. The Mi 6X camera build is vertically aligned, along with a LED flash in between the two camera lenses.

The leaked photo of the Xiaomi Mi 6X's back panel confirms that the handset will have the fingerprint scanner positioned at the rear. With this alone, it can be said that the front side of the handset will sport an all-screen display. Beside the rear-positioned biometric reader is the Xiaomi logo.

Meanwhile, another report reveals the leaked photo of the Xiaomi Mi 6X front display. As already suspected, the smartphone will feature a full view display with the bezels made much slimmer compared to the Mi 5X. Interestingly, the front design shares a striking resemblance with Xiaomi's recently launched devices, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X is believed to be the first handset from the Chinese tech firm powered by the Surge S2, a mobile processor produced by Xiaomi itself. It is rumored that Mi 6X will share the same chipset as the company's other upcoming smartphone, the Mi A2. Previous reports show that the Xiaomi Mi 6X and Mi A2 will almost have similar appearance, if not for the different user interface. The Mi 6X will have the MIUI 9, while the Mi A2 will feature a distinct UI for second generation Android One handset.
