Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi Inc. recently unveiled its new Redmi Note 2 along with another variant called the Redmi Note 2 Prime in Beijing, China.

Meanwhile, South Korean company Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. also uncovered its most anticipated Galaxy Note 5.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 will come out on Aug. 16, as reported by GSM Arena. Samsung's new Galaxy Note 5, on the other hand, is expected to be available on Aug. 21, according to The Verge.

In terms of the specifications, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 2 sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display screen with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. This new phone also comes with the Chinese company's latest MIUI 7 operating system (OS), which was recently unveiled alongside the new phone as well.

On the other hand, Galaxy Note 5 features a larger 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display screen, similar to that of its predecessor, with a 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. The device is protected by Corning's latest Gorilla Glass 4.

The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

In comparison, the Galaxy Note 5 features a powerful 16-megapixel camera on the back and the same 5-megapixel camera on the front. It also has a fingerprint scanner and an S Pen Stylus.

Inside, the new Xiaomi phone packs a Mediatek MT6795 octa-core processor, a 2GB RAM, and up to 32GB internal memory storage. According to GSM Arena, another version of the Redmi Note 2 offering a smaller 16GB memory will be available.

As for the new Galaxy Note 5, it runs on an Exynos 7420 processor and has a bigger 4GB RAM and up to a massive 128GB internal memory.

Also, the Redmi Note 2 comes with a  3,060 mAh battery, accompanied by a Quick Charge 2.0 feature. GSM Arena said the Redmi Note 2 can be charged up to 60 percent in just 30 minutes. The Galaxy Note 5, on the other hand, is powered by a bigger 3,000 mAh battery.
