Fans of the quirky YotaPhone 2 in North America are disappointed to learn that the handset will not be coming to the United States after all.

According to tech site The Verge, an email was sent from the parent company, Yota Devices, to the financers behind the launch. The YotaPhone 2 came about as a result of a successful run on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

According to the statement, the company had a falling-out with its manufacturer partners in terms of delays.

Yota Devices said, "The reason for our cancelled launch is due to unforeseen delays including both production and delivery of the North American variant of YotaPhone 2 from our manufacturer."

Although Yota Devices can still push through with the U.S. release, the delay with the delivery will cause backlash with the company's planned itinerary for next year.

The statement added, "The logistics were insurmountable and the device would simply arrive too late."

Judging from what the company said, it seems that one of the plans for next year will be to come out with a newer, globally-released YotaPhone.

Both the original YotaPhone and its successor gathered interests online due to their quirky design and specs. The YotaPhone is the first-ever to combine a dual-display feature, with a standard LCD display on the front and an e-ink paper screen at the back.

Yota Devices backing off in delivering its new YotaPhone to the U.S. will have huge impact on the North American audience. To compensate, the company will be offering fans two choices. Those who funded the Indiegogo campaign may opt to either request a refund for their pledges, or to receive an international version of the YotaPhone 2 instead. Yota Devices is still ironing out details on how and when backers can get their refunds. Meanwhile, those who would select the international version of the phone may encounter some problems since the model lacks support for LTE in North America.
