"Young Sheldon" continues to amuse its audience leading up to its second episode.

The next episode of "The Big Bang Theory" spin-off series will focus on the health scare of Sheldon's (Iain Armitage) dad George Cooper Jr., played by Lance Barber. This will cause young Sheldon to question the existence of God, but his grandmother whom he fondly calls Meemaw, played by Annie Potts, will try to enlighten the young 9-year-old.

The upcoming episode will probably raise questions with regard to the longevity of George's character. Will the show jump in head first and show the slow deterioration of Sheldon's father? Or is it still too early to be fleshing out this grim storyline?

Fans of "The Big Bang Theory" know that Sheldon's father passed away in the early 90s, approximately 13 years before the show started in 2007. Old Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons, has said several times in the series that his father was an alcoholic which might hint as to how the older Cooper passed away.

The time setting for the show "Young Sheldon" is 1989. If Sheldon's father passed away in 1994, then the spin-off comedy series will still have half a decade before the storyline focuses on his death; that is if the network keeps the show on the air for that amount of time.

Presently, the status of "Young Sheldon" is quite on the up-and-up following a strong first episode which garnered a 17.2 million viewership. It's also one of the first new shows this fall to get a full series order, and that means all of its 22 episodes will air until May 2018. "Young Sheldon's" official run this November will gauge if the network will order a second season.

The comedy series, which aired its pilot episode last September, will return for its second episode on Thursday, Nov. 2. It airs right after "The Big Bang Theory" at 8:30 p.m. EDT on CBS.
