Chris Brown has recently stated he wants to work with former One Direction member Zayn Malik, who is now working on his solo career.

The 26-year-old singer spoke to Capital FM and said he'd love to collaborate with Malik, whom he described as his homeboy — because both artists are now signed under the same label, as reported in Billboard.

According to Brown's statement, he welcomes the former boyband member because he thinks Malik is a great artist.

"Now he's doing his solo thing, I know he has a huge fan base and the fans are waiting to hear his stuff, so it would be cool to get down and collaborate," he said.

Brown recently worked with Rita Ora on the new single "Body on Me," now available for download via iTunes.

Not only was Brown the artist who expressed the desire to work with Malik, but also rapper Tyler who tweeted about wanting to do a collaborative project.

Mirror reported that Malik has been working in the studio together with various artists while staying in Los Angeles for a month, weeks after the harsh breakup via SMS with fiancée Perrie Edwards.

Earlier this week, the 22-year-old performer also teased his fans about his upcoming solo album, which he promised to be amazing.

There are no further details on the album, but he confirmed that he's been working in the studio and it's something that's keeping him busy.

In March, Malik broke several hearts of One Direction fans when he announced he's leaving the group over the reason that he's already unhappy with what he's doing.

Five days after the shocking announcement, his first solo song was released, according to The Telegraph.

The song "I Won't Mind" was done together with British producer Naughty Boy and it featured the One Direction heartthrob singing with an acoustic guitar accompaniment.
