HTC One M9 news: Company to release a brand new smartphone series

HTC’s official website

HTC has been extremely active during 2015, releasing a wide array of smartphones that target the higher-tier and middle-tier smartphone markets. However, the company is still experiencing trouble in both segments of the industry thanks to rising Chinese smartphone tech firms such as Xiaomi, Huawei and several others. Now, the company is formulating another next strategy in order to seize a considerable piece of the smartphone market. HTC plans on doing this by releasing a brand new smartphone series that is expected to arrive during Q3, 2015.

According to Digitimes, Cher Wang, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the smartphone company, has stated that HTC will be ramping up productivity and will be optimizing its supply chain, which will result in the improving of the operating efficiency metric. The website also states that during the company's shareholders meeting, Wang apologized to the shareholders for the recent decline in HTC's stock price performance, which is currently standing at NT$98.50.

In addition to smartphones, HTC will be attempting to capitalize on other markets, such as tablets and virtual reality. The company has formed a partnership with game developing and publishing studio Valve in order to release a VR headset called Vive. Pricing and availability details are currently unavailable of the product, which will be taking on Oculus VR and Sony's Project Morpheus.

In addition to releasing its One M9 and One M9+, HTC has also managed to release regionally exclusive smartphones such as Butterfly J. While regional exclusive smartphones do feature impressive hardware specifications, it is highly unlikely that they will be shipped out to other regions due to lack of popularity.

The company's executive has not stated the official name of the new smartphone series, but consumers should keep an eye out during Q3, 2015 for the official announcements and unveiling that will follow in the coming months.
